Dr. Perlman has 30 years of involvement in our schools and community.

She has proudly served as President/Chair:

Community Service

 - As Chair of Pomona’s Promise Promoting Academic Achievement (PAA) committee she, along with her committee members, have distributed over $100,000 in scholarships (in memory of Sarah Ross/ Shane Todd) to students for achievements in Science, Art, Oratorical/Poetry, and Robotics.

 - Founding member of The Learning Expo and Science Fair.

 - She serves as an assistant professor at the Western University of Health Sciences and has provided free eye exams for the underserved for the past 25 years. She presents at career days promoting optometry and providing mentorship to young women considering STEM fields.

 - Dr. Perlman serves on the Program Chair on the Board of Directors of the Pomona Public Library Foundation and is the founder (along with Mayor Tim Sandoval) of the Homework Club and summer Family Cultural Excursion program.

 - She is active in Compassionate Pomona, which is associated with 46 different community organizations, promoting restorative practices and community mental health initiatives.

 - She is active in the Sky Breathing and Wellness initiative and has trained to be a volunteer instructor for this proactive mental wellness course. She has assisted in training community members, faith groups, police officers, parents, and students.

 - Founder of Reading Under the Stars program.

 - Coordinator, PCS Annual Toy Distribution

- Served on WASC Committees

- Served on Measure PS Oversight Committee.

- Dr. Perlman is a proud member of the Latino/ Latina Roundtable, the NAACP Pomona Valley, the Optimist Club, and the Mayor’s Covid task force. She serves on the LLRT College for all Coalition and has organized parent and student meetings to encourage college access and attendance.

- Dr. Perlman served proudly on the board of Decker PTA, the Board of Directors of Lorbeer PTSO, Panther Pride Association

- She served on the Fairplex Community Committees for Pomona and Diamond Bar.

 - She has provided years of support for the Lions, Rotary, Kiwanis, Assistance League, and the Diamond Bar Women’s Club.

 - She has served on numerous panels promoting healthcare careers leadership, and community volunteerism. She served on panels at the Fairplex Pomona Leadership network, Pitzer College, LA County/NAACP
